Perched house
The plot of land is bordered to the west by a neighbor’s high gable wall set 2m back from the road and an access path to the east.
The project’s intentions are to accompany the various alignments on the road while keeping as close an attention to the back and front façades as the east and west façades, linking the house to its neighbors.
The new house is in keeping with the road alignment and stretches from one boundary to the other. It deploys itself over three levels to house this large family. Only the road level and the top story are visible from the road, the garden level being underneath.
The road level is home to the communal family spaces. It is clad in light colored wood and glass; which is transparent overlooking the road and garden, while being translucent on the boundaries. The vertical wooden slats create a filter between the inside and the busy road.
The garden level is housed within a sturdy mineral base that has been rendered. Inside there is the master bedroom and the music salon. Strictly facing the garden, the level opens onto a chestnut decking.
The top floor is the children’s “tree house”. Perched at the top of a black metal tree style staircase, four bedrooms and a playroom are to be found. It’s integrated furniture and sliding walls allow multiple spatial configurations depending on the children’s humor.
