House in the slope
The site is located right next to a residential neighbourhood on the outskirts of a village. It slopes steeply on the buildable area, then flattens out towards the forest and a small stream, offering magnificent views to the south.
The house consists of two simple, rectangular and identical volumes in raw concrete. They fit into the slope, cascading along the north-south axis. The north façade, discreet and minimalist, preserves the unobstructed view of the forest for the neighbours in the residential area thanks to its very low height (1.40 m).
The interior of the house is accessible via a long staircase that is embedded in the ground. From the entrance threshold, the view into the distance is framed by the single south-facing glass façade. It is punctuated by full-height sliding wooden doors. A roof overhang provides shade in summer and creates an outdoor walkway.
Like a path to the great outdoors, the entrance staircase crosses the house and continues down to an outdoor terrace with a brazier for summer evenings.
