Esperance House
On a tiny rectangular plot, this house forms a border between the street to the north, and the privacy of the garden to the south. The side facing the street has very few openings and protects the house from noise and from the cold. The south side is fully glazed, leading the eye out to the garden, and captures the warmth of the sun in winter. In the summer, large blinds and curtains allow the intensity of light and heat to be adjusted. Roof-mounted solar panels generate hot water, and a flexible tank collects rainwater for the garden of this energy efficient house.
